We are constanly investing in our business to enable us to provide our customers with the range of colours and quality of product that they require.
We have recently invested in our own bespoke powder coating plant for our designer radiator and towel rail collections. Powder coating is a type of finish that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder.
Unlike conventional liquid paint, which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is applied electrostatically and then cured by a heat treatment in large ovens. Powder coating provides better performance than wet paint; because of the thermal bonding process it undergoes during curing, it is more resistant to chipping, scratching and general wear .
This performance is especially important for radiators and towel rails due to the constant temperature changes and possible damage from everyday living. In addition to its physical toughness, powder coating provides superior colour retention. The powder itself is non-toxic, making it kinder to the environment than a wet paint process, which can contain potentially dangerous solvents.
Having our own plant means that we can very closely control quality, and with our facility being on the same site as our warehouse and despatch department, there’s a significantly reduced risk of damage.
However, more importantly, we have been able to enormously reduce the number of ‘product miles’ and therefore our carbon footprint, for each painted order. We control our plant so we don’t have to wait in a queue with others and, as a result, we’ve been able to drastically reduce our coloured radiator lead times.
We can provide any RAL colour, a wide selection of special-finishes and even a colour-matching service. Colour-matching means we can help to create beautiful spaces within your home or project by matching the colour of your high-end paint, with your radiator!
In 2020, we welcomed our new cardboard packaging machine. Not only have we have been able to reduce the amount of waste cardboard we produce, more importantly, we’ve been able to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic we use in our packaging. We are constantly striving to use zero plastic when it comes to packing our radiators and towel rails and with the help of our new machine, we are able to despatch radiators with only around 5% of the packaging being made from plastic. It’s an amazing result and one that we are very proud of.
Our new, in-house designed packaging means products will arrive safely and in the perfect condition you would expect. It also allows us to accelerate our processing so stocked product orders received up to 3pm can be despatched the same day without any problems.
